Good Food, Good Friends Good Times...
From 4–11 February, we found ourselves swept up in the charm of George Town, Penang—4days of laughter, heritage, and unforgettable meals, all beautifully planned by Glen Goei.

Where We Stayed
Our home base was the Argus Residences, spread across two lovingly restored shophouses. The blend of old-world architecture and modern comfort set the perfect tone for our adventure—heritage at our doorstep, and cozy spaces to gather with my char bor kwees late into the night.

Culinary Highlights
George Town is a food lover’s paradise, and we indulged in some of the city’s finest:
-
Teksen Restaurant – A local favorite, bustling with energy and serving long queues of customerswith comfort food that warmed both stomach and soul. Tek Sen Restaurant – A beloved institution since 1965, awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand for its good quality and value. Famous for its traditional Cantonese fare with local twists, highlights include the deep-fried house-made tofu with dried anchovies and the comforting double-boiled soup of the day.
-
Auntie Geak Lien Old School Eatery – A Michelin-recognized gem where tradition and flavour came alive in every dish.
-
Peninsula House, located on the first floor of the historic India House building in George Town. It’s a Michelin-recognized restaurant offering modern Australian-inspired cuisine, with highlights like seafood dishes and produce sourced from local indoor farms. The venue itself is a beautifully restored heritage space from 1937, making it both a culinary and cultural experience
-
Kebaya Dining Room – Elegant Peranakan dining that felt like stepping into a living museum of taste and culture.
Each meal was more than just food—it was a celebration of friendship, heritage, and the joy of sharing stories around the table.
The Heart of the Trip
Beyond the Michelin stars and shophouse charm, what truly made the week special was the company. Surrounded by good friends, every stroll through George Town’s mural-lined streets, every toast at dinner, and every late-night conversation became a memory to treasure.
